About - Mike McNeil Organization

About the Organization

Founded in 2009, the Mike McNeil Organization was created to honor the life and legacy of Michael Joseph McNeil—an extraordinary friend, son, and brother who inspired everyone around him. After a courageous 17-year battle with pheochromocytoma, a rare and aggressive cancer, Mike passed away at just 27 years old. Throughout it all, he lived with unmatched strength, humor, and heart—never letting his illness define him.

The organization was started by Mike’s closest friends, family, and fraternity brothers to carry on that spirit. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Mike McNeil Organization is committed to raising funds for cancer research and other causes Mike believed in. To date, the organization has donated over $50,000 toward the search for a cure—continuing the fight in Mike’s name and memory.

How We Make a Difference

Every year, the Mike McNeil Organization hosts a variety of events to bring people together for a good time—and an even better cause. Our signature event, Crawl For A Cure, is a citywide bar crawl through the heart of Lowell that draws hundreds of supporters annually. What began as a grassroots gathering has grown into a community tradition, blending fun, friendship, and philanthropy.

Through events like this, we create unforgettable experiences while raising critical funds to support cancer research at institutions like Massachusetts General Hospital, where Mike received care. We believe fundraising doesn’t have to feel formal—it can be joyful, loud, heartfelt, and rooted in the same energy Mike brought to life.

Together, we toast, we walk, we remember—and we keep working toward a cure.
